Are you ready for a Celtic adventure? Join us for a trip of a lifetime to Dublin, Ireland. You will see inspiring places of worship as we discover Christ Church Cathedral, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and St. Audeon’s Church in the heart of the City Centre. To warm our spirits in another way, we will then go to The Old Jameson Distillery for a wee dram, and perhaps the Guinness Storehouse for a pint if time allows.

The next day you will be on the train out to Skerries Mills, an industrial heritage museum that showcases wind, water energy and spectacular photo opportunities. Afterwards we will hop on the train to Malahide Castle, which was a fortress and private home for 800 years.

The third day will find you on the train again, going to the City of Dalkey. There we will see a fifteenth century fortified townhouse, a tenth century church and graveyard and Dalkey Town Hall. That afternoon we will travel to Sandycove to the James Joyce Museum, which will thrill photographers and literary fans alike. Not only will you see possessions of James Joyce, but the building that the museum is housed in is something to experience in itself. The museum is in a Martello Tower, which was built to withstand an invasion by Napoleon. It is architecturally dynamic, and a climb up the tower will reward you with spectacular views of the Irish coast.

Back in Dublin proper, we will explore the rich history of the streets. Our first stop is Dublin Castle for a stroll around the grounds, and then to Dublin City Hall for an introduction to the history of this great city. We will cross the River Liffey to our next stop, the Smithfield Chimney Viewing Tower. We will see 360 views of Dublin from our height of 150 feet. Then, we are on the bus to Kilmainham Gaol, one of the largest unoccupied gaols in Europe. This “Irish Bastille” was built in 1796, and then added on to in the Victorian Era. You will learn of the famous prisoners that once called the prison home, and you will marvel at the architecture.

We look forward to showing you the best of Dublin!
One lucky trekker will also win a NEW Canon 60D.

Mark Currier
Mark was practically born with a camera in his hand, and hasn't let go of it since then (he almost photographed his own birth!). Photography is a great joy in his life, and pairing it with travel (and good food!) is even better. Mark has 8 different photography businesses as well as having been in business for the past twenty years as M. Couturier, Photographer, photographing people and events all over the world, and looks forward to many more years behind the camera. This has allowed Mark and his wife Christina to travel the world and enjoy so many beautiful places.

A multi-award winning photographer, Mark's technical expertise surpasses most. His phone constantly rings off the hook with questions from other photographers - be sure to take advantage of Mark's technical genius!

"As a techno-geek, I prefer to be behind the camera, not in front of it."

Carla Christina Contreras
Born and raised on the back lot of Warner Bros. Studios, Carla's influences are based in cinematography. Growing up in the shadows of Hollywood, and starting her career as an actress at the age of three - a camera was always within her reach, be it motion picture or still. "I used to hang out with the Still Photographers on the set and ask all sorts of questions. I prefer to be in front of the camera, but when I can't, I'm behind it."

Carla's body of work includes Fine-Art, Still, Commercial, Event, Travel, Pet, and Portraiture photography. Being the consummate entrepreneur, Carla recently created a hand-made line of jewelry that incorporates many of her photos, and paintings.

A multi-award winning photographer and fine artist, Carla has traveled extensively through Europe, Britain, and India.

"I'm all about creating the perfect picture - LIGHT comes first!"

Come travel with us, and I'll teach you "Out-of-the-Box" CREATIVITY!

Before You Go

You WILL need a passport for this trek. If you do not already have one then you should apply for one immediately. You may need to have it expedited to receive it in time for the trip.

Non-Photographers/Spouse Policy
We would like to notify you that spouses or non photographers of trek participants who travel with them to PhotoTreks destinations advertised as part of the PhotoTreks will be charged the prevailing workshop cost. This is because of limitations in the workshop classes, transportation and seating at the many venues we work with on the treks.

This is an all digital workshop and participants must be comfortable with their digital cameras and the digital workflow. Be sure you bring your laptop for review sessions; edit sessions and the Photoshop presentation, as well as extra memory cards and storage devices. This is a time to sharpen technical skills and expand ability to see and make photographs in new and personal ways.

Bring a camera, all your lenses, flash and lightweight tripod. We suggest lenses ranging from 12-24mm to longer lenses 75 – 300mm. Be sure to bring your battery charger and more then one set of rechargeable batteries. Don't forget your camera's manual. Bring an external hard drive besides your laptop to guarantee you have enough space, especially if you are shooting RAW. Most modern battery chargers and laptops will operate on 110/220volts. A simple plug adaptor may be needed to adapt the pins on your plug to European style pins.

Weather & Dress
We are usually very casual on the treks. We will be shooting mainly outdoors, so bring a variety of clothing you can layer. Dress comfortably, with good walking shoes as there will be lots of walking. Make sure to have rain gear with you at all times to protect your camera bag and camera.

You are responsible to pay for all incidental charges to your room when we check out of the hotel. Incidentals such as room service, drinks, phone calls, business services, laundry, etc. are not included in the trek/workshop fees.

What to Bring
camera/ camera instruction booklet
film/flash unit (and the instructions)
fresh batteries/sharpie magic marker
interchangeable lenses (if you have them)
backpack/camera bag
lens cleaner and lens-cleaning paper
tripod / mini tripod / monopod

Travel Tips
Rather than exchange US Dollars for a lot of foreign currency a credit card will get you much better exchange rates while you travel. Just make sure that the bank that issues your credit or debit card does not charge fees for usage in foreign countries. You may need a small amount of Euros for tips, taxi, subway, etc. Probably $50 US or less should be sufficient for your entire stay.
